Bathroom Inspiration

These stylish bathrooms are inspiring me today.  I especially love all of the aqua cabinetry details in the first photo and the metallic wallpaper in the second photo.  What details stand out to you?

Black and White Friday

I'm trying to decide what my favorite part about this fantastic living room is.  Is is it the huge round convex mirrors stacked above the fireplace?  The bold geometric rug?  The zebra curtains that must be at least 30 feet long?  Or just the overall simplicity of the room that gives it a clean, modern, uncluttered look?  I'm thinking it's the mirrors.  Definitely the mirrors.

Modern Beach

Do you ever come across a photo of a space and think, "this is so me!"?  That is what happened when I found this dining room photo, it had a familiarity about it that made me think I had blogged about it before, even though I know I haven't.  Mostly the colors are what draw me in... the aqua, turquoise, and lime give this the fresh & tranquil feeling that I love in a room.  The mix of the industrial nautical chairs with the feminine chandelier and venetian mirror are a perfect contrast to one another.  If I had a modern beach house, I think my dining room would have this sort of eclectic mix.

Black and White Friday

I'm in love with this apartment of Nicole, author of the Sketch 42 blog.  Everything from the mirrored wall in the dining room, the lucite chairs, the ginormous tufted headboard, and the master bedroom window treatment (designed with the help of Nick Olsen) are just divine.

Nicole also has an etsy shop with some very stylish items for the home:

I especially love the lucite items she carries, they're so fun and unique.  Have a great weekend everyone!

Nursery Inspiration

Thanks to an upcoming project, I've got nurseries on the brain lately.  Here are some of my current favorites in my inspiration folder.

I love these subtle stripes

soft & neutral

I'd love to try a do-it-yourself version of this lighting fixture with the lil' birdies:

aqua + yellow, always one of my favorite color combos

New Wall Display

I've always loved this shelving unit in the bathroom of Eddie Ross's former home and have since been on the lookout for something similar for above our master bath toilet area.

So I was pretty excited when I found this display unit at Goodwill last week for only $8.
{Sorry for the poor photo quality, the lighting is terrible in my bathroom.  Trust me, in real life it looks much better!}

I filled it with little treasures that I already lying around, mostly thrifted.  I'm sure the display will change as I find new things, but I think it works for now.

What do you think?

Just for laughs

I stumbled upon the Cake Wrecks blog yesterday and it had me laughing so hard that tears were running down my face. Cake Wrecks motto is "when professional cakes go horribly, hilariously wrong". It's the funniest thing I've seen in a long time, definitely check it out if you need a good laugh. Here's a taste of what you'll find on their site...

hmm, where should we celebrate?

eww, down where?

Even funnier than the cakes are the author's commentary on them. For this creepy baby doll cake she says:

Don't...make...eye contact...
All tucked in and ready to kill.

In need of a sexy bachelorette party cake?

I wouldn't get this one.

She also features amazing cake designs like this fabulous purse cake, but the mistakes and the disturbing ones take the cake for me...tee hee:)

Poor Patrice, I wonder if she knew her fate before getting her birthday cake...

Check it out here.

The best $5 I spent last weekend...

Was on this j. crew skirt I found at goodwill. It's super cute, is in perfect condition, and was exactly my size. Score!

And because my husband was so sweet to photograph me in my new purchase, here are some other random shots he took...
And yes, since I'm sure you were going to ask, that is the bougainvillea corsage listed in my etsy shop that I'm wearing:)

And the winner is....

*****Kelly R.*****

Kelly chose the Sorbet:
I was going to use random.org to pick the winner of the Fancify headband, but I wanted be sure that people got the extra entry if they were following my blog & became a fan on facebook (sorry if my instructions were confusing). So I went old school instead and enlisted the help of my husband pick a name out of a bowl. Congrats to Kelly R., and thanks to everyone who entered the giveaway. I'll probably be doing another one next month, so be sure to check back often. Remember, if you didn't win, you can always get your own fancy band in my etsy shop!

Black and White Friday

Wouldn't this entry nook be nice to come home to everyday?

This little space is perfect- it's got style, storage, a place to sit and put your shoes on (or take off), and a huge mirror to check your look in before you head out the door. Just lovely!

Hope you all have a fabulous 4th of July weekend, be sure to enter the giveaway if you haven't already. I'll be announcing the winner Monday morning!
