Pillow Obsession

So I've been obsessed with the Jonathan Adler bargello chevron pillow for like, ever.  Something about it makes my heart leap every time I see it used in a space, it's just perfect.  However, the price tag leaves something to be desired.  At $175 a pop, I can't justify spending that much on a pillow, especially since I change my throw pillows like most people change their underwear.  Maybe this pillow could change that, maybe I would be content with it for years to come.  Probably not.  So, being the talented and thrifty girl that I am, I decided that I'm going to learn to needlepoint and make an Adler-inspired pillow of my own.  I picked up a couple of instruction books today at a thrift store and am going to give it a whirl.  I'll be sure to share my results here when I'm finished.  Until then, you can drool over these pics with me...

Heaven.

The bargello waves pattern is nice, too.

My new books, which cost a grand total of $1.25

Goodwill Finds

I'm a big fan of Goodwill, especially of their 50% off sales every other Saturday.  I live right next to Sun City, which is a large retirement community here in Phoenix.  Since the population is  slightly vintage, they usually have some pretty cool things that they are getting rid of.  I love trolling estate sales through their neighborhoods and consequently, our local Goodwill is full of unique vintage items.  These are some interesting things that I spotted last weekend that I should have bought, but didn't:

Yellow ceramic lamp bases, only $5 each!

There were 4 of these chairs for $4 each!  I thought they would have looked cool with a different fabric on the seat, I was seriously considering them for my dining table.  Too bad my husband hated them.

I don't think I mentioned that I have a small etsy shop where I sell some of my vintage finds.  You can check it out here.

Amy Butler Bedding Collection

Just this morning I was thinking that it would be nice to do a little re-decorating in my bedroom to lighten things up for the summer.  Then I clicked on over to the decor8 blog and saw that the new line of Amy Butler bedding has just arrived in Bed Bath & Beyond stores and my heart skipped a beat.  Coincidence?  I think not.  I'm pretty much obsessed with anything Amy Butler does, and this bedding line does not disappoint.  I'm a sucker for floral prints and these colors are right up my alley, especially the blues and greens.  And to top it all off, it is made of 100% organic cotton and printed with low-impact dyes so you're doing something good for the environment (in case you need further justification to go out and buy it).  I'm going to check the line out in person asap, but until then I'll just drool over these images from Amy's website:

Love it!

Fake-cation

It's supposed to be 116 degrees here in Phoenix this weekend, so all I can think about is getting the heck out of town.  Although I'm not actually going anywhere fun this summer, a girl can dream, right?  I'm not sure where I would go but someplace with a beach and lots of green grass and trees would be high on my list.  Hawaii, perhaps?

Of course money is no object for a fake-cation, so my luggage would by stylin' from J. Crew:

Some fake-cation clothes I'd pack:

I'd be headed to the beach with these:

I love the vintage skirted bottom of this bathing suit, I've been eyeing it a while and it's finally on sale so I may have to give in and get it.  And everyone needs a big, floppy hat for the beach for some stylish sun protection and a beach towel that is too expensive to even think about laying it on the sand.  Oh well, I guess for now I'll just have to settle for a nice weekend at the pool, hanging with some of my best girlfriends and trying not to melt.

Feeling the Love

The "love" theme seems to be everywhere these days and I must say that I'm sitting front and center on that bandwagon.  I'm definitely feeling the love for this new pillow at Urban Outfitters.

Here are a few of my other picks from UO:

Their "apartment" selection seems to be getting a little more sophisticated and reading much less 'college dorm' than it used to.  I can picture the yellow fainting sofa in a funky entryway with deep turquoise walls and the bird cage lantern hanging above.  The recycled letter hooks would look great by the door to keep keys organized and looking pretty.
